Why you should volunteer…
Want to help but can’t walk or run?
The Russell Family Fun Run will need volunteers in the following areas:
- A few people to arrive at Lake Murray, at 7:30 a.m. to set up registration, balloons, signs, etc.
- Registering participants as they arrive
- Standing at the course half-way mark to guide participants
- Being at the end of the course with tape and a stop watch
- Assistance at the end of the event to pack up, clean up, and return items to Tifereth Israel Synagogue
Let us know you can be helpful by emailing Yael Edelstein (preschool@tiferethisrael.com) or call (619) 697-1948.
The Hamantaschen are Coming…
But now without your help! Love to bake the yummy Purim treats? Or want to learn? Then this is the chance you’ve been waiting for. There will be plenty of dates and times to meet everyone’s scheduling challenges. Each shift is only two hours and it’s a terrific opportunity to meet new people. Most people enjoy it so much they keep coming back year after year. Email Yael Edelstein (preschool@tiferethisrael.com) or call (619) 697-1948.
It’s Not Easy Going Green…
But during our Tu B’shevat Green Day (Sunday, February 5) we’ll need help setting up. In addition, if you, or someone you know, would like to participate and showcase a product or service, contact Beth Klareich by email at program@tiferethisrael.com or call her at (619) 697-6001 ext. 108.
Want a Thrillah?
Join our cast of characters in preparing for this year’s annual Purimshpiel Thrillah Megillah featuring the music of Michael Jackson. Rehearsals will begin just after the first of the year and take place twice weekly until our show on Wednesday, March 7. Director Susan Levy invites you to join us. Beth Klareich can give you more details, call her at (619) 697-6001 ext. 108 or email program@tiferethisrael.com.
Do More Than Shop at Traditions
Traditions Gift Shop is looking for a volunteer or two to give some time to ensure the Gift Shop is open on a regular basis. This is a wonderful opportunity to be right in the “hub” of the comings and goings and a great way to meet people. If you are interested email traditions@tiferethisrael.com or call (619) 697-6001 ext. 107.
Read About This!
The Braun Library welcomes your involvement, assisting visitors including students and families from our Silverman Preschool and Abraham Ratner Torah School. No experience is necessary. Contact Susan Braun, (library@tiferethisrael.com) Chairperson and let her know you’re interested.
Yad b’Yad: Make a Difference in Someone’s Life
Our congregation has a handful of members who would benefit from a phone call or a visit from time to time. In a joint venture between our congregation, Sisterhood, and Men’s Club, we want to fill this void. If you can make a few calls or plan a couple of visits, please contact us. Yad b’yad, hand in hand, we can make a difference. Email Beth or phone her at (619) 697-6001 ext. 108.
Tifereth Israel’s Morning Minyan needs your help!
For years Tifereth Israel has held a daily morning minyan. The minyan has been here for those who are reciting Kaddish and observing a Yarhzeit or want to begin their day with prayer and reflection. We are fortunate to have a core of “minyanaires” who attend on a daily basis or several times a week.
Over the next few weeks, we anticipate that we may not have the required ten people it takes to have a valid minyan. Without a valid minyan, Kaddish cannot be recited for those observing a Yarhzeit or in mourning.
Could you help us complete a minyan by attending a minyan service once a month, once a week, or as often as you can? Minyan meets at 8:30 a.m. on Sundays and at 7:30 a.m. Mondays through Fridays. Our minyan is egalitarian and welcoming. Membership in Tifereth Israel Synagogue is not required to attend.
Following services join us for the best bagel breakfast in town, served with delicious coffee and juice. You’ll get to know this special group of fellow congregants and you will be performing a tremendous mitzvah.
You can just show up or let us know your availability by emailing or phoning the office at 619) 697-6001.
