Thank you for participating in the electronic bylaws ballot.

From time to time the Board of Directors sees the need to modify our by-laws due to changes in the Congregation or to simplify the operation of our institution. Such changes were approved at the Board of Directors Meeting on April 24, 2008.

In addition to some typographical corrections, these are the main changes proposed by the Board:

  1. To extend the number of terms officers can serve from two to three.
  2. To combine the role of the Youth Activities Vice-President with the Education Vice-President.
  3. To create a new Vice-President position that will allow the Executive Board to charge that position with a task that would require more time than the board can dedicate at its meetings. For example: long-range planning, capital campaign, endowment, etc.
  4. Although the Board appreciates and values past presidents’ input and advice, they don’t attend board meetings often enough to have followed certain issues from the beginning. The Board proposes that all Past Presidents, with the exclusion of the Immediate Past President, be considered nonvoting ex-officio members of the Board. This does not preclude any Past President from accepting a Vice-President position.

If you have any questions, please call the office at (619) 697-6001. If the Synagogue Administrator Nivi Rahm or the office manager Linda Marus cannot address your concerns, a member of the Board will respond to your questions.

In order to be valid, 10% of the members eligible to vote must cast a ballot. The changes must be approved by a two-thirds majority of the votes cast. All ballots must be received before Friday, May 9, 2008 by 1:00 p.m. The results will be announced by Monday, May 16, 2008.

This electronic ballot will help save time, resources, and money. Your cooperation and participation is greatly appreciated.
