Helping One of Our Own

The Redman Family

Lori and Donald Redman have been active members of Tifereth Israel Synagogue since the Navy brought them to San Diego in 2011. The family contributes to the different programs run by the synagogue and have been a huge asset to our “kitchen crew.” They enjoy the friends they have made at Tifereth Israel and the sense of community within the congregation. Their children, Hannah and Aaron both attend our Abraham Ratner Torah School.

Not long ago, Lori was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. Currently, Lori is undergoing chemotherapy and is looking at about four more months. That hasn’t stopped her from pushing to stay involved and keep up with two very active children. Due to Don’s ship schedule, it is often a challenge to get dinner taken care of on specific days due to her chemo schedule.

Both of the children suffer from Celiac Disease. Each child has a different reaction to gluten, but it makes both of them extremely ill if ingested. Cross-contamination is a constant concern and therefore, we are unable to ask individuals to prepare food in their own homes. Fortunately, The Trails Neighborhood Eatery has a terrific Gluten Free Menu and the Redmans have been able to take the kids out…safely.

Here’s How You Can Help

We are asking for your assistance to support them during this difficult time. It would be a tremendous help and a mitzvah to order from a prepared menu designed especially for the Redman Family. Simply call The Trails at (619) 667-2233 and let them know you would like to order for the Redman Family. Any meal (consisting of two adult meals and two kid meals) will cost a total of $30 plus tax. Call (619) 697-6001 ext. 108 or email Beth Klareich to make arrangements. The family will not be needing meals during Passover, but you may order a meal in advance for the weeks following the holiday.
