Chavurah is a Hebrew word that roughly translates as “circle of friends.” It refers to a movement in contemporary Judaism that brings families and individuals together to celebrate the joys of Jewish life in an intimate social setting. A Chavurah can be many different things: a study group, an extended family, a place to celebrate holidays and explore the richness of our Jewish traditions. It is a sub-community with the larger Tifereth Israel Synagogue community.
A Chavurah will consist of 7 - 10 families, or up to 20 individuals. Members are general, close in age and interests, and activities may or may not include children, depending on the individual Chavurah. Meetings are typically held on a monthly basis, usually in homes of Chavurah members.
Whether you’re
- Married or single
- 25 - 105
- With or without children
- Empty nesters, etc.
this is an opportunity to form a Chavurah that’s right for you!
