Nitchadesh

It has been almost five years since the Board of Directors of Tifereth Israel Synagogue approved a fundraising capital campaign known as Nitchadesh, We Shall Renew, to refurbish our beautiful yet slightly worn building. The initial goal of the campaign was to raise $500,000. Thanks to the generosity of all those who participated, that turned into almost $800,000 in funds pledged.

This allowed the Cohen Social Hall to receive a complete facelift, including all new lighting, carpet, chairs and dividers as well as the six celebration panels that now are the central focal point of the room. The Silverman Sanctuary's seats and carpet were also replaced and beautiful new railings were installed. The Goodman Chapel was turned into an intimate and beautiful place of worship. A new storage room was added and the stage was refinished and conditioned to double as a proper Board room. The offices were completely redesigned allowing for better flow and a welcoming atmosphere to those entering our building. In addition, new Torah mantles were dedicated, and a pleasant and useful grassy area took the place of the dirt-packed courtyard that was once outside the Social Hall.

Front Walk In ProgressAs we enter our fifth year we are working on one of the last big projects: the Abraham and Anne Ratner Walkway. The work is currently in progress. When finished, it will provide the grand entry that our building deserves.

There are still a few smaller projects yet to be done, such as the reading tables and a dedication wall for both the capital campaign donors and the ELI donors.

Although the whole process has taken longer than expected, we are very pleased with the results. Our building is truly beautiful and a source of inspiration to those who choose to worship in it.
